CHRISTMAS GIVING 2020
ANGEL STYLE

Regarding our Annual Christmas Celebration, due to COVID and the fact that most of the agencies are still working remotely, we will be doing our annual Christmas Celebration different than previous years. We want to make sure everyone feels safe while at the same time we want this event to be special and heartwarming Angel Style! We are working on the details of how to do the gift exchange and we will keep everyone informed of the details in our December Newsletter. WE NEED YOUR HELP especially this year to put smiles on the faces of these children who faced many challenges this year. PLEASE support our Christmas Giving Program by adopting a child for Christmas. When we work in numbers as a TEAM, we can make it happen. Please contact Sandy Kearney at [email protected] if you want to help! We are working with our community partners on getting the wish list for the kids and will pass it on to any individuals or businesses who want to help make a difference in the lives of these children!

Campbell Park Elementary
Definitely Something to Smile About

This past week we held an IDT staffing for JH. Our little JH was able to attend his IDT staffing alongside his mother.

Last year JH was suspended several times and was sent to the behavior room daily. This year he has not went down to the behavior room at all. He was very happy about discussing his improved behavior. JH’s attitude is so positive about this school year and he really enjoys his teacher. When she appeared on the call, he shared that he “loves his teacher so much”.

Without prompting from his therapist, he shared how he knows how to calm himself down. JH stated that he gets “10” points almost every day (students can earn up to 10). This same kid had no friends last year but now was naming at least 3 kids in class he says are his best friends this year.

WE LOVE THE ANGELS!

HEALTHY START PAT+ PROGRAM

We had a mom give birth a month early and she has nothing we got some of the basics for her but was wondering if you could help with anything else. The few things that she could use are a bouncy seat and a baby bath. We appreciate everything you do for us.

When COVID first hit our community and our country, it was hard to imagine light at the end of the tunnel. Now we see HOPE on the horizon in the eyes of our children that there is something to look forward to. It has been the mission of the Angels for over 15 years to make a difference in their lives and give them HOPE for a better tomorrow! Thank you Angels for all you do.

Thank you Angels for our bunk beds, comforter sets and stuffed animals. Our room looks so amazing and we cannot thank you enough for making it happen. We thought we would just be getting a bed, but what you did to give us a happy room was amazing!

Mouse Nibbles Program

The Kind Mouse has been busier than ever during this difficult time packing and delivering to hungry children and families by filling there little bellies. No child should go to bed hungry and thanks to the Kind Mouse, little bellies get filled every day! The Angels are honored to be a part of keeping little tummies full by assisting with this epidemic! Thank you Gina for paving the way!

Healthy Start PAT+ Program

We as an agency have been blessed to deliver food to families on Wednesday. Getting to see the babies go through the bags is so sweet.

Watching the families adapt to zoom visits have been fun. The kiddos are starting to understand how to use the cameras and definitely go crazy with the cameras some days. It definitely makes all of us smile and laugh

PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ANGEL ASSISTANCE

Kelly Johnson, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has requested uniforms, school supplies, tablets, gift cards and other back to school assistance. This is a busy time for the Angels to make a difference in the lives of these children.

Directions for Living

When our good friend Damia Kelly, Directions for Living, sends out a distress signal, the Angels are ready and willing to fulfill the needs of the children and youth who could be or are facing homelessness due to these challenging and difficult times. During the Pandemic, there have been so many emergency needs and families in desperate need of everything and the Angels have filled many requests that will give these families and children Hope for a better tomorrow.

The Angel Resource Center has remained stocked and available for the needs of our community partners. To further assist them during this challenging times, we have had many items shipped directly to them to keep everyone safe and out of harms way.

Friends of the Children Mentoring Program

Putting a smile on a child’s face is what we do, especially during difficult times like we are all experiencing at this time, but our hearts go out to all the children and youth who already have challenges and obstacles to overcome, so if we can give them Hope and a little something to brighten our day, we are doing our mission! Thank you community partners for sharing smiles with the Angels!

Busy Bees ALL Year Round…

The Angels are excited to assist with the children’s needs during this challenging time. We know how excite the kids are to be returning to school and seeing their friends. Let’s encourage our kids to respect each other and understand that every day is a blessing and loving one another is so much easier than not!

Campbell Park – First Five Program

The Campbell Park Elementary School (First Five Program) is under way and changing lives even during the Pandemic. The Expert is currently working full time with the children and families daily. All services are provided to the children, teachers and parents virtually using Zoom technology. These services are provided at no cost to the families. There is constant oversight to make sure the children are safely housed. There are presently over 100 pre-school and elementary school children attending Campbell Park Elementary who are homeless or housing unstable living in a hotel/motel. The Angels recently provided uniforms, backpacks, and school supplies and tablets for learning. These little children are over the moon happy to be living normal lives and participating moms and dads!

The Angel Visitation Center

Despite COVID the Angel Center is doing AWESOME! Ashley has kept it going because she knows how important it is for the children to see their parents. The Angel Center is almost back to full capacity and everyone is following the COVID guidelines. We are so proud to see reunifications taking place during this challenging time and everyone who walks through the front door of the Center feels Welcome and grateful to visit their children. We welcome visitors who would like to have a tour of our facility if you have never seen it. You always walk through the doors with a smile and leave with a smile!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED…

Making Masks Fun

The Angels feel that if our little ones have to endure a mask, it should be a fun and fancy one so we took on the challenge of creating fun masks for kids starting back to school. We will be providing 250 children’s masks and 100 adult masks to our little ones and big ones who can use a smile!

Contact Sandy Kearney to request masks. We are limited on our supply but will do our best to accommodate you!

Welcome back meeting from COVID-19

SINCE OUR April 19th 2020 Annual Blue Ribbon Gala has been cancelled for this year, and rescheduled for April 10th 2021, we still are making a difference in the lives of so many children in our community who need our assistance. We have been working hand in hand with our community partners helping to get these children ready for school as well as assisting with the many needs of our homeless families trying to keep their children safe and our of the child welfare system. As you can imagine, since we were unable to host our annual Blue Ribbon event, our ability to raise funds has been challenging. Every dollar we do receive is immediately put directly on a child’s need. If there are any individuals or businesses that would like to help us help our kids, please DONATE. Since the BRG is our only annual event that raises awareness in our community as to what we do for the children who are victims of abuse and neglect, but how we raise the funds to sustain the many programs we provide. Right now we could use your help big or small to help our kids! Every dollar makes a difference. We are stronger than ever to have survived such a challenging time but imagine how difficult it has been for these vulnerable children who have already suffered so much. We could use a lending hand if you can help! You can make a donation directly on our Facebook page or our website www.angelsagainstabuse.org.

For those of you that have already donated, Thank You from the bottom of our hearts!
