TOOLS FOR SUCCESS
SUCCESS STORY
Mariah Pollack was having difficulty in school after COVID she wasn’t getting her work done and her grades had dropped tremendously from an A student to getting D’s. Her mentor, April, and Mariah made a goal for her to get back on the Dean’s list for the 4th quarter. She received all A’s and 1D. When she received the laptop from Angels, it motivated her to get all A’s the first quarter. She received all A’s and was placed on the principal’s honor roll. We are proud of Mariah, she wanted to also Thank the Angels for her laptop.

BABY CAT PROGRAM UPDATE
Baby Cat is definitely making a difference in both Campbell Park Elementary and Kings Highway Elementary. Great strides are being made with these children and their families and lives are being turned around. Moms and Dads are feeling proud of their accomplishments which touches the lives of their children. These little ones are learning how to deal with challenges and obstacles. Families are being stabilized resulting in breaking the pattern of abuse. When you change the direction for one child, it changes lives for generations and this is what we are doing! It has been proven over the last two years that working with troubled children at the pre-k level is how you win the battle of breaking the pattern of abuse. We are beginning to get a lot of recognition at the State level which means we are on our way to making the Baby Cat Program a state-wide model for elementary schools with pre-k programs. We are very proud of our success with this program.
On behalf of Directions for Living, we would like to thank the Angels for all they are doing to help make this happen.

The Angels take requests and make them a reality for children
in need of a little HOPE and a BIG Smile
The impact that Angels is having on these kids lasts long after the check has been cut. Thank you for seeing the value of bringing these opportunities to children in the dependency system and helping to give them an outlet to grow.

Three feel good feedback stories to share on requests that Angels has funded:
Bradley was removed for the second time. He is now with his grandfather and feeling safe. Although he has never been to camp as his GAL, I felt it would be great for him and make his summer very fun. Bradley had so much fun at camp. The first day he was so tired he could hardly stay awake. They swam every day which he enjoys. His favorite was the field trips. He even got to go ice skate which he has never done. There are so many first things he experienced there and really enjoyed his summer. It was so good to hear him tell me all that he was doing, he sounded so happy every time we talked.
Gage is an adorable eight-year-old boy that loves to play outdoors and go swimming. He lives in an area where he is not able to safely play outside with other neighborhood children. Like most young boys, he is full of energy and needs an opportunity to be physically and socially active on a daily basis. I requested funds to cover the fees for the child to attend the YMCA North Pinellas day camp for the summer. Attending camp has given Gage the opportunity to interact with children in a positive and safe environment and make new friends. It also provided him the opportunity to take swimming lessons during camp and have vigorous outdoor play time every day during summer break. Gage loved going to day camp!
We are so greatful for this fabulous Clearwater Marine Aquarium experience. The entire Aquarium staff was so kind and helpful. My children learned so much. To my pleasant surprise, my 6yr old Ezra’s curiosity dominated the invertebrate presentation with such interesting questions. Bio Mom and Grandma to my 6 yr old Laura and 7yr old Alexa had a visit with their children they will treasure. My 7yr old Julian was in love with the Nicolas and named his stuffed Dolphin Nicolas. The children are still talking about the everything at the Aquarium. They all enjoyed every minute of it. With the generous gift card from the Angels group, each child bought a something for themselves and a sister or brother who could not be with them.
Again, thank you for an experience we will never forget. Erin

Thank you again for all that you do to help our kids thrive!

A Mom in Need
Healthy Start PAT+ started working with a mom in September. She had her baby and was having trouble feeding the baby. Mom was struggling to breastfeed and was supplementing with formula. The baby has a dairy allergy that was discovered at a doctors appointment. Thanks to Angels, we were able to provide a breast pump to help this mom continue breastfeeding. Thank you to Angels Against Abuse for all you do for PAT+!!
