Meet Leah Veal
Our Guest Speaker
Leah Veal is a certified teacher and Founder & CEO of Bees Learning, Incorporated. Ms. Veal received her M.S in Professional Counseling and Education Specialist degree from Georgia State University. She has a combined twenty-five years’ experience counseling and teaching at-risk youth in a variety of settings including public Title 1 schools, private organizations and in- patient mental health facilities.
Ms. Veal founded Bees Learning in September 2017 as a grassroots movement to address the educational inequalities that exist in Pinellas County. In the five years that Ms. Veal taught in South St. Petersburg, her student outcomes in reading proficiency were above average compared to peers in the same age group. These measures are found using district data and national norm-referenced reading assessments.
Ms. Veal’s vision for Bees Learning is to combine a small-group teaching model with a mobile platform to extend quality literacy opportunities to low-income students on a county, state and national level. The We Love Books mobile literacy program is paving the way to offer quality learning to thousands of elementary students by providing the best resources to the neediest children. The unique educational approach Ms. Veal and her teachers have designed provides vulnerable students with opportunities to increase student performance, therefore achieving greater life outcomes.

Thank you Pasadena Community Church for hosting the Taste of Pinellas Event this past Wednesday. This was an amazing event and gave us the opportunity to spread our wings to some new faces who are looking for volunteer opportunities! Thank you PCC for all you do for the Angels throughout the year.

Allen Yergovich is looking for volunteers so please make sure you touch base with him at our May Angel Meeting and sign up. It is an amazing day for not only the little ones that attend, but for the parents, and the volunteers. It is a day of JOY and SMILES and most of all HOPE!
